01. When we look at the Magician, we are drawn to the wand raised hand pointing towards heaven, but the real magic rests in that finger pointing to the earth. The ability to create gives him his title. The life force that fills the universe is not gentle or benign. It must be discharged, grounded in something real.

To create is to produce something real and valuable outside of ourselves channeling this energy. We can really hold on to power in our lives only by constantly discharging it. By releasing creative power, we open ourselves up to receive a further flow.

The Magician is the representation of pure willpower, the will unified and directed towards goals. He is the connecting force between heaven and earth, “as above, so below“, meaning that mind and world are only reflections of one another. It’s the Magician who gives life its meaning and purpose. To act is to direct your strength, through the will, to the places where you want it to go.

02. The Magician means, first of all, an awareness of power in your life, of spirit or simple excitement possessing you. He refers to beginnings, the actual first steps you take. It can mean both the inspiration to begin some new project or phase of life, and the excitement that sustains you through the hard work to reach your goal.

Seeing the Magician means that it’s time to tap into your full potential without hesitation – use your intellect, talents, and practical skills to manifest your dreams.

06. The Magician reversed signifies that in some way, the proper flow of energy has become disrupted or blocked. It can mean a weakness, a lack of will or a confusion of purpose that leads to doing nothing.

The power is there, but you cannot get in touch with it. You have many skills, talents, and capabilities, but your real potential is not being maximized. You may realize that you have so much more to give. Or perhaps you know you are great at something, but you have not allowed yourself the opportunity to nurture and explore this skill.

07. The Magician Reversed shows you are exploring what you wish to manifest, but you are not taking action yet. You are uncertain if you have everything you need or are unsure about how to make it happen.

The Magician Reversed can also be a sign that you are struggling to see progress or success. Perhaps you are not clear on your desired outcome, or perhaps your end goal is out of alignment with your Highest Good, so your efforts are misdirected and unfocused. Stay attuned to your intuition and pay attention to opportunities as they arise.

08. At its worst, The Magician Reversed signifies greed, manipulation, trickery and power abuse. You may be masterful at manifesting, but if you are out of touch with your Higher Self, you may only do it for your personal gain and at the expense of others.

Sometimes you may fall into this trap unintentionally. If your goals are not coming to fruition or something feels off, tune into that and ask yourself if you are working for the highest good or solely for your own benefit.
