Indication:

This card can indicate a wonderful intimate relationship, either personal or spiritual.
With this union, it is possible for you to integrate opposing aspects within yourself.
What you feel you are missing in yourself you see in the others.
Your partner mirrors aspects that are underdeveloped and unanimated in yourself.
This is an opportunity to foster your personal growth, to be come a whole, total individual.
The bliss you seek outside of you is to be found and developed within you.

Question to Ask:

What are you looking for in your soul mate?
Seeing them clearly, can you develop these qualities within yourself?
How can you cultivate your relationship to achieve a greater sense of unity?

Affirmation:

I am now ready to meet the soul partner that I have longed to meet.

Here, the individual emerges. We cultivate our individuality in a way that feels liberating. The Lovers card asks us to dive into relationships with curiosity, a sense of wonder and playfulness, loyalty, and commitment. Give yourself to the openness of union, without restraint. Leap into this energy of surrender. Intimacy creates understanding. Understanding creates equality consciousness. Love and relationships of all kinds can prove to be very valuable in the forming of who we are and how we interact with the external world.

01. The Lovers signify attraction and desire, the marriage of opposites, the harmonious merging of the sacred and the profane. The duality depicted here indicates the balance of yin and yang the union of two opposing forces. The distance between the two figures represents the power of choice and the responsibilities inherent in relationships with others.

The Lovers demand equilibrium and authenticity of emotion. They ask one to love while letting go, to give without needing to receive, and to empower without dominating.

The Lovers also emphasize the necessity for personal foundation and individual fulfillment before embarking on any union. Self-love is the only path to mature and elevated connection. By standing up for inner beliefs, true desires become manifest.

02. The sexual drive leads us away from isolation. It pushes us to form vital relationships with other people, and finally opens the way to love. Through love, we not only achieve unity with someone else but we are given a glimpse of the greater meanings and deeper significance of life.

In love, we give up part of that ego control which isolates us not only from other people but from life itself. Therefore, the angel appears above the man’s and woman’s heads, a vision unobtainable to each person individually, but glimpsed by both of them together. Each of us is only half a person and only through love can we find a sense of unity.

03. The primary meaning within the Lovers is harmony, attractiveness, and perfection in a relationship. The trust and the unity that the lovers have gives each of them confidence and strength, empowering the other. It can indicate you have a beautiful, soul-honoring connection with a loved one. You may believe you have found your soul mate.

While The Lovers card typically refers to a romantic tie, it can also represent a close friendship or family relationship where love, respect, and compassion flow.

The Lovers signifies open communication and raw honesty. It asks for a willingness to be in our most vulnerable states, to open our hearts, and to share our truest feelings. By communicating openly and honestly with loved ones, you will create a harmonious and fulfilling relationship built on trust and respect.

04. A more personal Lovers meaning is the development of your own personal belief systems.

At its heart, The Lovers is about choice. The choice about who you want to be in this lifetime, how you connect with others, and what you will stand for. To make good choices, you need to be clear about your personal beliefs and values, and stay true to them. Now more than ever, you must choose love – love for yourself, love for others and love for the Universe. You must choose the best version of yourself.

05. The Lovers card encourages you to unify dual forces – bring together two seemingly opposing parts and create something that is unified and harmonious. In every choice, there is an equal amount of advantage and disadvantage, opportunity and challenge, positive and negative. When you accept these dualities, you build the unity from which love flows.

The Lovers can indicate help in some way, either practically through the lover’s assistance or through emotional support.

06. The Lovers reversed can point to both inner and outer conflicts that you are dealing with. It indicates disharmony and a struggle to balance your inner union.

The disharmony can make daily life difficult and could be putting pressure on your relationships. You should take time to think about what you are punishing yourself for, so you can let them go. At this time, you should also think about your personal values and belief systems to make sure that they are aligned with what you want from your life.

07. A reversed Lovers card can also indicate a break in communication. The foundation for your relationships may be cut off, creating an imbalance between you and your partner or loved ones. The unity normally present within the card has become lopsided. It can also indicate a destructive love, particularly in a bad marriage.

08. The Lovers reversed can also indicate that you have been avoiding responsibility for your actions. You could have made a decision that was based on your desire for immediate gratification but are now blaming others for the consequences that are catching up to you. So, you need to make amends or let go of the past and make better decisions in the future that are in alignment with your values.
